I'm at 862 words already. Just putzing around for an hour. I tend to write a little, do something else, write some more, etc. If I had to sit in one place and just punch out words for hours, it would feel like work. Don't know if I can make 50,000 words doing this, but I am at least getting stuff written.

Good for you. Keep at it.
I'm afraid I won't be participating at all this year. My son is due to be born this month and I promised myself that I would be the best, most attentive husband possible. We already have four daughters and in the past I've gotten distracted at the least opportune moments. That won't happen this final time.
Anyway, I didn't mean to go on about myself! Good job and good luck to all of you who are participating.

I'm doing well - spent about 8 hours at the keyboard today, and so far NO carpal tunnel, lol! 7425 words so far.

Sheez, pls! Over 7000 words already and we've only just started! Congratulations.

I worked a full shift in Wal-Mart today but managed to write a little over 2000 words. Tomorrow, after the kids have gone to school, I'm going to aim for 3000. If I can write 5000 words every two days, I stand a chance of getting my story done before our visitors arrive.

Ahaha you all are making me feel bad. I got less than 100 words written today. The goal is to get 5,000 words written by Friday. I'm doing it with a friend of mine, we're going to check in with each other, see if we're reaching our goals, and hopefully having fun with it all.

I'm up to 1787 words right now, and I plan on getting some more writing done later. I need a couple really good days in case I have some slacker days. To get the 50,000 in time, it takes 1666 words a day, which I'm not really used to. And it doesn't help that I have work, where I have to write technical reports or go outside and work (the joys of the environmental field).

Also, 7400 words in one day is great! At that rate, you'll be done by next Sunday.

Good luck everyone.  I did NaNo 2007, was way behind two weeks into it and considered quiting when I said NO! and buckled down.  Had some 4000 and 5000 word days.  Finished with time to spare.   Don't give up.

It's day two, and I'm at 5,000 words, and still working.
Best of luck to all the participants!

I hit 10,318 before going to bed last night. I haven't written much today though. It's been a busy day. Last week we made an offer on a house. the sellers counter offered, and today we accepted. so i've been doing the rounds of phone calls to line up the home inspection, dealing with the insurance company for our current home, etc.

I'm slowing down today. Had to run errands, and then when I got back to the keyboard I discovered that my villain is now gay, the real villain is lurking down the street somewhere and hasn't revealed himself, and the main character is psychic and her little sister sleepwalks. In other words, my carefully-laid outline is now completely useless! And I write on ... can't wait to see what happens next.

5417 words so far! I've exceeded the suggested goal for day 3! Now I just have to keep on top of it...

After seeing all your word count totals, I think I need to get off this forum and go work on mine!

I'm at 4210 right now, but my story has been meandering. But I'll be hitting a major focus area starting tomorrow, as my heroes arrive at their destination.

Does anyone remember Mork and Mindy? He used to say "Nano, Nano" all the time. Just a little trivia.

I hope all who joined have a great adventure! Many of my writer friends are doing it. Not me, though.

13,795 so far. I think i have another 500 or so in me before i stop for the night.

I'm really liking my story. it is flowing very well and i'm not resorting to any of the nano 'cheats' for my word count so far.

I've actually felt inspired the past few days working on this new story. the last couple months have been pretty rough working on my second novel, with everything going on in life right now. and i just cant seem to get attached to my second novel. i like it, but its still kind of... meh. if that makes sense.

9300~ words as of this morning.

I see where this is going. I'm going to log over 100,000 words in 30 days, take a machete to 70% of them, then a scalpal to another 10%, add some flesh to the remaining 20% to come up with a final count of 60,000 or so.

Then, I'll start revising.

I'm taking advantage of my week off and trying to get as much writing done as possable. When I go back to work I know issues will arise, the place sucks out any inspiration I have. As of right now I have 13,900 words putting myself about 4 days ahead. Thank God. I should be hitting a wall soon, I can feel it. Wish everyone much luck and if you want to check out my page I'm under dracara

At the computer at 5:10 this morning and clocked in at 10,011 before I went off to work. I thought I might get a few more words out of me tonight but right now, off to bed -- it's only 7:00 pm! Rather start fresh in the morning.
